FFI promotes entrepreneurship in the fashion industry in Flanders, raises designer's awareness about business skills, career guides and also promotes Flanders Fashion at national and international level.

The mission of Flanders District of Creativity is to promote entrepreneurial creativity and entrepreneurship in Flanders and establish synergies between them.

In this second edition, Niels Peeraer and Hannah Jacobs have been awarded for their innovative leather treatment in garment manufacturing and their accessories.

PROCOIN PROJECT

Cooperation project between 7 technology centers in Andalusia (Citta, Andaltec, Innovarcilla, Ctap, Cetemet, Citma and Movex) in order to provide solutions at production level using Lean Manufacturing methodologies based on continuous improvement.

Lean Manufacturing thinking consists in a series of methods and tools designed to:

- Eliminate losses for delays and inefficiencies in the internal processes of the company.

- Prevent and eliminate equipment failures, interruptions and other losses in productivity.

SOME OF THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN PREVIOUS INTRODUCTIONS OF THE LEAN MANUFACTURER METHODOLOGY IN THE SECTOR OF LEATHER:

- Increase of over 12% in the productivity of the cutting process.

- Decrease of 19.5% of lead time (time elapsed between starting the manufacturing process to completion)

- Reduction of over 50% of space used.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

- Advice to improve productivity.

- Identifying opportunities for improvement in management systems and production control (planning, cost control, time control, etc.)

- Finding solutions that add value to businesses.

- Increased competitiveness of companies.

During this project, a group of technical specialists at these Technological centers in Andalusia analyze the state of production processes in 14 companies from various industries (2 companies in the leather sector).

As a result of this analysis, the companies participating in the project will get an initial diagnosis of the conditions of the undertaking in relation to their production processes and industrial organization. In this document, will appear the opportunities for improvement identified during the diagnosis as well as a work plan with the proposed measures that can be adopted.

Participation in the project is free for the 2 selected companies. If you are interested in receiving more information contact MOVEX by phone (0034) 92 956 46 or via email info@movexct.com.

INACATÁLOGO. TECHNOLOGIVAL BREAKFAST ICT TOOLS PRESENTATION

This tool is a system of catalogues from a laptop, integrating them into your company's ERP. Showing products in a digital form, reported in the closing sales of the client´s profile, risk in course, stock of the product, anticipated delivery time, etc.

INACATÁLOGO is likely to adapt to computer systems and needs of individual businesses, providing a substantial improvement in their logistics.

Leading companies have already shown interest in that tool at national level as it offers among others the following advantages:

- Increases sales, focusing on the customer's needs, allowing more visits in one day, selling only what can be served, knowing the customer better and sell THE STOCK.

- Saves printing and distribution costs of processing paper catalogues in computerized orders.

- Allows selling through different channels: online stores, shops, final customer.

- Provides autonomy and immediacy of the sales team. The sellers have information on the stock, offers, rates and news at the time, providing customers photos, emails, orders, news or items of interest.

- Control your sales team management.

Free design for each catalogue may differentiate your company from the competition and give an image of advanced enterprise and increase the sellers´ motivation.

The project does not require large investment and you can start with few sellers. The implementation is simple and can be operational within a week.

Basically, the advantages we offer to the interested companies are the chance to test this system by developing an ongoing pilot catalogue during 60 days or a 20% discount on licenses.

I-FASHION

Collaboration between the leather sector in Andalusia and the Flanders Fashion Institute (FFI).

Among the conclusions drawn from the "Laboratories of Innovation" and the " How do they see us?" developed during the years 2008 and 2009 in several cities at national and international level and within the National Plan for the Promotion of Fashion Leather Accessories (PLAN COMO), with support from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, DDI, Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Cadiz and ASEFMA-National Association of Manufacturers of Leather Goods, and included in the GUIDE COMO, are detected the needs to establish effective tools and mechanisms for publication of the leather sector, while highlighting a lack in the access of companies in our sector in Andalusia to the trends and design. That is why in September 2009 an agreement was signed between Movex and Flanders Fashion Institute (FFI) with the aim to allow freshly graduates of the Fashion and Design schools of Antwerp and Ghent to make their final projects in the sector of Leather in Andalusia.

It is worth mentioning that Antwerp is the city of diamonds, Rubens and fashion. The "Antwerp Six", six designers trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp who got international fame (Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries van Noten, Dirk Van Saen, and Marina Yee), and together with others from the same school, created a fertile ground for the flourishing of fashion in Antwerp, which is evident in its catwalks, Fashion Institute of Flanders (FFI), the Fashion Museum (MoMu), and the many shops that can be covered in the five routes of fashion.

The objective of this project is the realization of practical manufacturers of leather and leather goods by graduates in Fashion Design.

THE NEW TRUTH OF LEATHER

Words such as crafts, know-how, dedication and passion have always been linked to Ubrique and its region. Its location between two national parks, its history, its industry and many other things make this area a strategic location not only for tourism but also to respond to the trends seen in today's market, as they are, the appreciation of the craft, the weight of history and the knowledge passed from generation to generation.

Everybody knows that in the South of Spain, there are people with knowledge of the techniques in the manufacture of leather and skills in other parts of the world. The book in your hands contains the results of a demonstration project named "The New Truth of Leather", which contacted the industry and the creativity. On the one hand, the industry represented by a group of manufacturers of leather goods with a long history in the manufacture of fashion leather accessories and on the other hand, the creativity comes from the hands of professionals and artists from different disciplines (Architecture, Fashion, Food, Sculpture, Jewelry, ...) and figured they wanted an object to become a reality by using the skin as the only raw material. All this highlights the efforts of leather sector in Andalusia to respond and provide solutions to the world of creativity and design at the time of turning ideas into tangible objects.
