The Leather Technology Centre of Andalusia is a non-profit Foundation, whose main objective is to enhance the development of the leather work sector in Andalusia, through design, innovation, knowledge transfer and technology.

Member of the "Sistema Andaluz de Agentes del Conocimiento" (Andalusian Knowledge System), the foundation has 24 patrons, among which most come from the leather industry sector and auxiliaries, also present, represented and supported by the local and regional administration, universities and financial institutions. We should highlight the support of institutions such as the University of Cadiz, the "Asociación de Empresarios de Complementos de Moda y Piel (EMPIEL)" (Business Association and Leather Fashion Accessories in Andalusia), the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Cadiz, the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia, Cajamar or Caixa.

Thanks to the patrons´ support and to all the agreements reached with the Department of Economy, Innovation and Science of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Foundation MOVEX, with more than 1,200 square meters is currently in extension phase.

The Foundation MOVEX is located in one of the biggest production centre of Spain, Ubrique, in the ¨Sierra de Cadiz¨, surrounded by natural landscape.

Further to the conclusions obtained in a project funded by the Andalusian Regional Government, this space is dedicated to industrialists and professionals of the leather goods sector where they can interact with professionals of design in different areas: industrial sector, fashion, interior, etc. This space covers the necessary conditions, equipment and services for the different working stages: from conceptualization and design to the development of advanced prototypes and final samples, technical schedules for further mass production or the development of prototypes and countertypes thanks to the existence of a sample laboratory interconnected with the manufacturing cell.

The objective is letting the development of R&D projects and strengthening design as first support for innovation, keeping high quality standards, recovering and valuing local know-how in order to get a unique result.

A wide typology of materials and usual components using the latest technology offer users the possibility to know in one place each season trends.
The ability to make an appointment with distributors, industrial and specialists is one of the main attractions.

The tradition and know-how has been accumulated over decades of experience handed down from generation to generation.

Technical design, computer design, pattern, tends, materials and components selections, product technical viability studies, prototypes, development, investigation on raw materials, new materials application, new components application workshops.

This new space gathers offers and professionals in one unique environment and therefore offers time reduction in design, in material and component selection, in developing prototypes, in obtaining product technical specifications and elaborating short series for validation. A UNIQUE SPACE.
